Daily Act of Love: Day #55 Giving Away Free Books & DVD from Raw Food Expo
Daily Act of Love: Day 54 Helped a Speaker at The Raw Food Expo
A woman in front of the Raw Food Expo hotel this morning looked frantic as she was unloading 6 or 7 boxes and a large Mac box onto a baggage cart. Immediately I recognized her as one of the speakers at the Expo. Not just one of the speakers, but THE one I was most looking forward to hearing. Erik had attended one of her all day seminars while he was doing his raw food cleanse and he LOVED her. Even more cool, she went to college with Erik and I AND lived in the same dorm as me, the same year. Small world.
Daily Act of Love: Day #53 My Birthday Weekend!
Erik and I decided for my birthday we would celebrate by treating our family to a holistic weekend of food & fun! This is our Daily Act of Love to each other....a RAW FOOD EXPO! (You gotta love it!). One of Erik's close friends, Laura Fox, put this whole amazing weekend together. We were welcomed today by the beautiful red rock formations of Sedona, AZ. Incredible!! This was followed up by a delicious dinner of raw Thai curry soup, green juice, and a raw chocolate ganache for dessert. Wow!!! My body could not thank me enough :). Can you guess what Kody ate most of?? LOL. Little chocolate lover.
Daily Act of Love: Day #52 Helped A New Mother with Groceries
Tonight I came across a woman in a grocery store parking lot juggling a very young infant while trying to unload four or five bags of groceries. I walked over to her and offered my help. She was really gracious and very appreciative as I helped her unload her grocery cart. I also returned the cart back to the store for her (a flash back from Day #24!). I loved the feeling of helping another mother. I remember those days in the beginning after Kody was born; everything seemed SO overwhelming. Someone offering to hold him for 5 minutes was like a gift from Heaven :) Reminder to those who cross the paths of new mothers....a small act of kindness goes a LONG ways!!
Daily Act of Love: Day #51 Donated Books
Yesterday I shared a few iPhone apps that Erik and I discovered were incredibly helpful in getting our lives organized. As part of that process, I cleaned out our library and donated a few of the larger books to one of those blue book donation receptacles located in grocery store parking lots. I have other books that I will be sending to my nursing school as part of their charitable collection.
Daily Act if Love: Day #50 Getting Organized!
Erik has had a little breathing room in his schedule the past week, so we have used the opportunity to do a little family planning & organizing. For those of you who know my husband, you know he is crazy when it comes to researching new things. This time it was finding new iPhone apps to help us get and stay organized. So in addition to my Daily Act of Love for my family in helping get us organized with our budget, tasks, short and long term goals, I am also going to share with you all the fruit of Erik's research. I'm not going to describe the apps in detail, but if you find yourself needing help in any one area, go check it out. They are pretty frickin' cool!!
Daily Act of Love: Day #49 Dont Ever Give Up!
If you are having a bad day or if you are ever in a position where you feel like giving up, please watch this video. This is my Daily Act of Love to you. Whether you need it today or tomorrow, I promise it will inspire you to dig deep, stay positive, and forage on ahead. What beautiful things await you on the other side!
Daily Act of Love: Day #48 Being Present with Someone
Today at CSL (see day #41) a woman spoke about some challenges she was facing in her life. She asked the congregation for help. She didn't ask for material things, she asked for emotional and spiritual support. While she was talking I was totally present with her. I felt for her and at the same time visualized her overcoming her hurdles. There was powerful energy in the room as the entire congregation inwardly cheered her on. Ah the power of love!
Daily Act of Love: Day #47 Randomly Picked up Trash
For an early birthday present, my mom bought Kody a "balance bike" when she was here last month. The balance bike is a training bike for toddlers; there are no wheels. The kids just sit on the seat and shuffle their feet on the ground. It is supposed to help them learn their balance so they can transition to a regular bike without any training wheels. My niece, Lienne, had one and the first day she hopped on a regular bike, she took off down the street, no problem!
Today was a beautiful sunny day here in Seattle, so Kody and I took the "Lit'l Rocket" balance bike on it's first outdoor adventure. We rode around the neighborhood stopping only for a look at the bees and pretty flowers followed by a short lesson from mom on how bees pollinate :) On the way home, I spotted a small piece of trash on the sidewalk. I picked it up and decided my Daily Act of Love today would be for Mother Earth. I picked up all the other small pieces of trash the rest of the way home. I can see how this can be addicting as you start to see pieces of trash everywhere. If you are reading this, I encourage you to notice trash tomorrow and pick up as many pieces as you feel called to do. Your Mother Earth (& your neighbors) will thank you :)
Daily Act of Love: Day #46 Commitment to My Mother-In-Law
Almost everyday I talk to my mom in California. I send her video clips or photos of Kody, and in general keep her updated on our life here in Seattle. I love this connection with her. It makes me feel closer even though we live in two different states.
